Evaluation - Question 3

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

With our target audience being 16-25 year olds and students, we thought that using Facebook to display our film would be perfect in order to gain feedback from our target demographic. This worked very well and we got a lot of praising comments from our peers, which we were very happy about! What we found was enjoyed the most was our choice of music and the camera shots, and the professional feel our film has to it.

Although on the Facebook group there was no negative feedback, a few people did ask us what was meant by the female character not picking up the envelope at the end. This was actually an improvised decision made by the actor, but we liked it and decided to keep it in as it shows more about this girls character - the envelope was covered with the vodka from the previous scene and didn't look too desirable, whilst the flowers looked pretty and extravagant. The girl deciding to take the flowers and abandon the card gives the audience clues about her character, which are necessary as they haven't encountered her in the 'reality' side of the film. From her actions the audience can imply that she is quite superficial and lazy as she has just left the envelope there to be picked up by somebody else. These small clues are negative views of this character, which makes the protagonists failure to 'get the girl' a bit less tragic. To show this more clearly for the audience, we could've added in another close-up shot at the end of our film of the soaked envelope sitting on the doorstep, emphasising its undesirable appearance.
